We unfortunately live in a society that knows the cost of everything, but the value of nothing…
Everyday a new ICO appears. ICO stands for Initial Coin Offering and basically is a simpler version of an IPO. This innovative form of investing and capital raising has been at the center of attention in the Blockchain and finance worlds since 2017. Because it is so much simpler to put in place than an IPO, a plethora of them has appeared in 2018 and it has been a great year for ridiculous ones.
Because ICOs generally include buzzwords such as Bitcoin, Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence, they have become an investment paradise for people who profess to be experts in these fields. But in reality, as it is a relatively new science, there are very few true experts.
We have seen ICOs for Japanese cats, for Christmas Coins, and even for Jesus Coins “Unlike morally bereft cryptocurrencies, Jesus Coin has the unique advantage of providing global access to Jesus that’s safer and faster than ever before”.
In reality, there are a few simple pointers to differentiate a great ICO from a scam. But the most important one is often overlooked, and that is What does the ICO actually stand for. What is it trying to achieve? There are of course all the standard analytics tools to look at, such as team, timeline, media, code samples, regulations, distribution, white papers, global potential and circulating supply, but the aspect that is most often overlooked is Purpose.
A true and valuable ICO should score highly on all the above matrix, but should also have a mission and a mission to make the world a better place, and such an ICO is healthbank.
“You are my creator, but I am your master”
Mary Shelley (1818)
This phrase, pulled out of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, is a perfect analogy for our modern attitude towards data. We create data and are slaves to it…
We will be defined as the generation of people who gave up their right to privacy. In 2012, IBM estimated that an average human leaves 500 megabytes of digital footprints every day. If you wanted to back up just one day of this data for the entire world, and you decided to print it on an A4 sheet of paper, double-sided, font-size 12, and you stacked it up, it would make a stack of paper that would reach to the sun, 4 times. Every day…
But at the same time, everyone is scared of data. And we are continuously shaking the Ghost of Data Safety. Data has no value, if it is not used. But if it is used, anonymously, to do medical research, epidemiological research, to save a life, it then has tremendous value.
healthbank is one of the highest rated ICOs at the moment, because healthbank touches on a subject that that everyone talks about but that no one knows how to address, which is data safety and medical data usage. Dan Ariely, Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Economics at Duke University, is famous for saying that Big Data is like teenage sex: “Everyone talks about it, nobody really knows how to do it, everyone thinks everyone else is doing it, so everyone claims they are doing it”. And that is truly the case today for medical data usage…
healthbank is revolutionising how personal health data is exchanged, stored and monetized. Health data today is complex — it often is stored in closed ecosystems, sits dormant, is nearly never seen by the end user — the patient. Exchanging personal health data is difficult — patients and care providers rarely have a complete record of an individual.
Health consumerism is driving how care is delivered and accessed. Patients increasingly have more data and choices at their fingertips and healthbank’s ecosystem enables users to securely store and exchange data with a range of healthcare, pharmaceutical and wellness and lifestyle service providers.
By operating a health data exchange platform, healthbank connects different stake-holders in the health ecosystem — at the user’s request. healthbank provides an independent and neutral solution, that only the user has access to.
Just imagine if we could just push through medical research in rare diseases without any red tape, just do research for the sake of making the world a better place… That is healthbank…
We can now see our dream becoming true, a dream where people share their data for the good of mankind.
And that is how you judge a good ICO…
